Today I felt jealousy for the first time in ages, but only for a moment, a fleeting blip of time
And something struck me as the feeling lapsed:
That the emotion is born of fear and insecurity, of possessiveness and greed -
Hiding inside the thing we call love like a wolf in sheep’s clothing,
Lurking with menace in the middle of the herd

So I’ll say this about jealousy:
It has the opposite effect of how it’s used
Pushes away those we love despite the contrary intent
And we’d all be better people in its absence

But should it flare up unexpectedly
Please take these last words seriously:
There is no place for jealousy in a heart filled with love
