DAWN

We stayed up all night to watch the sunrise
On a late summer drunk just begging to end
Drove around on winding roads in no certain direction
Only waiting to see what came around the bend

We laughed at the moon and its barely peeking form
On dew covered grass in a field far below
At the foot of a peak of the Pacific Coastal Range
You got high while I got low

I told you I loved you in the visage of twilight
You told me you loved me in cadence right back
But seasons don't stop for human emotion
At dawn you were gone but I was still intact
